KAREN ROEHL - Unfolding

K Contemporary is proud to present the latest body of work from celebrated Denver Abstract Expressionist, Karen Roehl.

As we journey, we leave in our wake the exciting possibilities of roads not traveled, undiscovered countries that sound their Siren calls and then slip beneath the horizon astern. With her solo exhibition, “Unfolding,” Karen Roehl will, in a sense, re-trace her steps, exploring uncharted potentials and breathing life into creative landscapes once confined to her restless imaginings.

“This show builds on what I’ve done in the past, and tries to expand it,” says Roehl, a longtime Denver resident. “I’m bringing everything to the table, unpacking, unfolding, my accumulated past.”

Roehl began her artistic career when she completed a design program at the Art Institute of Colorado in 1987. She was the recipient of the Colorado Scholars scholarship award in 2007, UCD's Fellowship award in 2006 and 2007, and completed her BFA degree in December 2007, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Colorado, Denver. Roehl joined the faculty at the Art Students League of Denver in 2011, where she teaches classes in basic and abstract painting.
